You might have told yourself a lie. The lie that you aren’t good enough. A lie about being too much or too little, too fat, too thin, too this, too that…blah, blah, bullshit. That resistance to the awesome reality of you is normal. (Because, you are freaking awesome.) Everyone struggles with resistance. The trick is to notice when it comes up.
Resistance is tension. We might feel sensations like a brain fog, tight shoulders, or a knotted stomach. It comes in the form of feeling inadequate, stuck, and angry. Resistance comes up as thoughts like, “I can’t do this.” “Why can’t I just let it go?” “I should be….whatever/wherever…right now”. You might be filled with self doubt. We might fight our reality and say no, even when we know what’s right for us.
The great news is, resistance has an antidote, ACCEPTANCE. When we accept things as they are, like water finding an easy path, we can flow with our lives again. Stuff doesn’t stick to us and we can finally be in the moment again. So, how do we accept?
Acceptance is a practice that we choose actively with our bodies. We choose to feel the discomfort of the moment, as it is, without trying to numb it away. We choose to release the tension in our muscles, relaxing our tired muscles. We choose to breathe deeply. We observe our thoughts. We choose action over wallowing in our feelings. We pay attention to our internal guide. This takes time and intention. Let’s make moves.
